Residential Campus
Community starts at UChicago by sharing a common space and a common spirit. Our residential Houses integrate faculty, staff, upperclass Resident Assistants, and a cadre of 60-100 or so students who share a cluster of individual rooms and common areas within a residence hall. Your House becomes a home the minute you set foot on campus. Resident Heads open their doors to you, sharing their family lives (and pets!), hosting study breaks, Bad Movie Nights, 10-minute finals-week dance parties, and hiking excursions to the Indiana Dunes.
Arts, Athletics, Activities, and More
Scholar-athletes, principal cellists, and quiz-bowl champions have plenty of opportunity to do what they love outside of the classroom. With over 450 student activities and a campus alive with yearly events and wild traditions, the question isn't if you'll get involved, but how.
Diversity
Rigorous inquiry demands diverse perspectives. Academic programs and resources such as the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the Center for Identity + Inclusion serve a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
Spiritual Life
The Office of Spiritual Life serves as a destination for all things spiritual and religious at the University of Chicago. Spiritual Life offers places—metaphorical and literal—to connect, understand, and explore. The office encourages integrative spiritual practice, offering programs that cross traditional religious boundaries, as well as programs that support members of particular traditions. Spiritual Life provides campus-wide programming like Spirit Week to celebrate spiritual diversity on campus, in addition to hosting weekly Jumu’ah prayers, meditation, and yoga classes.
Excitement at Every Turn
On a leafy campus, in the vibrant neighborhood of Hyde Park, among Chicago's 77 distinctive community areas, each student finds both a place that feels like home and plenty of opportunity to explore something new.
