QuestBridge Applicants

QuestBridge is a nonprofit program designed to assist high-achieving, academically motivated students from low-income backgrounds in applying to top colleges around the nation. The University of Chicago has been a proud QuestBridge partner college since 2007, and currently has more than 200 QuestBridge Scholars on campus. The program features the National College Match, an application process in which students rank and apply to up to eight of QuestBridge’s partner colleges. Students who are matched receive a generous four-year, no-loan scholarship. Students interested in participating in the National College Match, or who want to know more about this program, should visit the QuestBridge website for instructions.

Applying to UChicago through QuestBridge

In order to apply to UChicago through QuestBridge, students must first apply for the QuestBridge National College Match and be chosen as a QuestBridge Finalist. QuestBridge Finalists who are interested in applying to UChicago through the National College Match Program should apply for admission and financial aid in the same manner as any other first-year applicant. Your application fee will automatically be waived by indicating on your Coalition or Common Application that you plan to apply for need-based aid.

Matched Finalists

Matched Finalists will be notified by QuestBridge by December 1. The National College Match with UChicago is a binding admission program.

Unmatched Finalists

All QuestBridge finalists who ranked UChicago and did not match with a binding college will automatically receive an Early Action decision from the University in mid-December. Unmatched finalists who did not rank UChicago are welcome to apply through the Early Decision II or Regular Decision round. Please refer to our first-year applicant instructions for more information.

UChicago-related QuestBridge Timelines

A complete list of QuestBridge deadlines can be found via the Questbridge website. Students and families should note that November 1 is a deadline for four UChicago-related QuestBridge materials: 1.) the Coalition or Common Application, 2.) the UChicago Supplement, 3.) the FAFSA, UChicago Financial Aid Worksheet (or CSS Profile), and 4.) a copy of parental federal income tax returns from the prior-prior year.
