The University of Chicago provides several undergraduate academic programs for the interdisciplinary exploration of various cultures and communities. These include, among others, majors and minors in Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, Latin American Studies, East Asian Languages and Civilizations, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Jewish Studies, South Asian Languages and Civilizations, as well as a range of individual courses in other areas. Regardless of their major, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in another culture by studying abroad in more than 30 locations and by learning one of over 50 different languages. The UChicago community engages with a diversity of perspectives through lectures, workshops, and research opportunities offered throughout the year exploring issues of race and identity in a variety of disciplines.
