Sports aren’t just for varsity athletes at UChicago! Students play sports at club and intramural levels, too.

Club Sports

Some of UChicago’s club sports teams compete at the same level as varsity teams at other schools. All are for students who want to learn more in a supportive environment and to have fun—for many, no experience is necessary. A selection of club sports offered:

Intramural Sports

Most students get involved in UChicago’s intramural sports program, one of the most extensive in the country, whether that means starring as the quarterback of their House's flag football team or showing up to cheer on Housemates at a broomball match. Houses compete against each other in tournaments, eventually battling a graduate school team for the coveted title of All-University Champion. Houses, and sometimes clubs, put together teams to compete in volleyball, flag football, 3-on-3 basketball, wiffleball, basketball, soccer, broomball, softball, and more, while individuals and partner sports such as backgammon and chess are available as well. All told, more than 70 percent of students participate in one or more sports at UChicago, making it one of the most popular recreational activities on campus.
