The University of Chicago is located in the neighborhood of Hyde Park, seven miles south of the city center (also known as the Loop). Hyde Park is easily accessible from downtown by all major forms of transportation. If you are coming to campus from downtown, we suggest taking public transportation because parking on campus can be difficult. Please use the resources below for detailed travel instructions and information.
If you need further details, please call the Office of College Admissions at 773.702.8650 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. central time, or the automated directions line at 773.702.1234, extension 5.8008.
Our welcome center, Rosenwald Hall (green house), is located just to the southeast of the center circle on the Main Quadrangles. During regular visitor hours, look for the maroon and white flags. Rockefeller Chapel (yellow house) is located a block away on the corner of Woodlawn and 59th.
Consult the visitors map above right, or the Google map below, which includes walking directions from parking garages and public transportation.
