Each day, students gather in the dining halls to relax, eat, and discuss everything from the foundations of the universe to the day’s events.
UChicago's dining program provides healthy, well-prepared meals in community-based dining halls while also providing the flexibility desired by students with a demanding academic and extracurricular schedule.
The meal plan has two components:
- Meals eaten in the campus dining commons (Bartlett and Cathey Dining Commons)
- Maroon Dollars that may be spent either for additional meals in the dining commons (for guests) or at select retail locations on campus
The dining hall menus change on a daily basis and both venues offer a wide variety of entrees. Dining options include:
- Zabiha Halal
- Glatt certified Kosher stations
On your schedule
Students enjoy “continuous dining” seven days a week. You may come and go freely with unlimited access to all-you-care-to-eat dining from the time the dining commons open until they close. Saturday dinner is not offered in the dining commons; many Houses use this opportunity to plan House dinners and off-campus cultural events.
Each House has a designated “House Table” in one of the two dining commons. Your House Table offers the opportunity to dine with familiar faces from your living community.
