UChicago is located south of downtown Chicago in the vibrant neighborhood of Hyde Park. If this is your first time in Chicago, we encourage you to explore both our neighborhood and all our amazing city has to offer. As you have the choice to stay in Hyde Park or downtown while you’re here, to make your planning easier we have recommended hotels in both locations.
On Campus
Drawing on the liveliness of the Midway Plaisance, The Study at University of Chicago is a hotel setting new expectations for comfort and service at the corner of Woodlawn and E 60th Street. A two-minute walk to the center of campus, the hotel will be adjacent David Rubenstein Forum and Keller Center. With a seamless integration into the university experience, guests will be able to step onto campus the moment they exit the hotel.

Hyde Park
If you’re staying in Hyde Park, the Hyatt Place Chicago South and Sophy Hyde Park offer comfortable stays close to campus. Located just one block apart, Hyatt Place is off 53rd Street on S. Harper Avenue and Sophy Hyde Park is on 53rd Street – a major neighborhood destination with many shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Both hotels have easy access to public transportation routes into downtown Chicago.
The hotels are only a 15-minute bus ride or 25-minute walk from campus and are also within walking distance of Promontory Point, a jutting peninsula loved by University students for its views of the city; Jackson Park, home of the coming Obama Presidential Center and former home of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition; and the Museum of Science and Industry.
