University of Chicago Application Process
International students at UChicago come from over 100 countries and comprise 21% of the University’s student population. They are integral to the diversity of the UChicago community and provide essential perspective to all manner of campus conversations. International applicants will apply in the same manner as any other first-year applicant. When applying to UChicago, international applicants will be read in the context of where they attended high school, regardless of citizenship.

Required Application Materials
Application for Admission and Supplement Essays:
UChicago accepts the Coalition Application or Common Application. We treat both equally in the admissions process. Students should pick a single application platform to use, whichever they feel works best for them.
Extracurricular Activities: In the list of extracurricular activities, students should include whatever it is that they spend your time doing outside of class. This could be an official club, team, or competition; a hobby; a part-time job; a family responsibility; or anything else a student does with their time outside of class.
Personal Statement: The personal statement is a student’s chance to present themselves and their ideas in their own words. Through the Common or Coalition Application, the personal statement will be sent to all of the schools you are applying to. The personal statement should be appropriate for a wide array of audiences and should put the student’s best foot forward.
UChicago Supplement: The University of Chicago Supplement requires one extended essay of the applicant’s choice from our list of several prompts and one short essay on why they would like to attend the University of Chicago. The Supplement is available through the Coalition Application or Common Application.

芝加哥大学补充文书： 芝加哥大学补充文书有两篇，一篇是学生从芝加哥大学罗列的几个题目中选择一个完成，另外一篇是学生讲述为何选择芝加哥大学的短篇幅文书。学生可以在Coalition Application或Common Application找到我们的补充文书。
Application Fee or Automatic Fee Waiver:
The University of Chicago does not charge an application fee for students applying for need-based financial aid. For students not applying for need-based financial aid, our application fee is $75 and can be submitted through the Coalition or Common Application.

Transcript and Secondary School Report
High School Transcript: An official transcript detailing the applicant’s coursework and grades over their entire high school career should be sent from the high school. In reading a student’s application, the transcript will serve as a roadmap of their academic path in high school. We will be looking at students’ academic record across all four years of high school, primarily to see that they have challenged themselves productively in their course selection and done well in those courses.
Secondary School Report: The Secondary School Report provides us with an overview of your high school academic record. All secondary school counselors have the option of submitting letters of recommendation and school forms online via the Coalition Application or Common Application. High school counselors should follow the instructions on the Coalition or Common Applications for submitting these forms. Counselors may print out and submit these forms on paper even if the student submits their application online.

Two Teacher Evaluations
We require two recommendations from teachers who have taught the applicant in an academic subject. All school counselors and teachers have the option of submitting letters of recommendation and school forms online via the Coalition Application or Common Application. Letters of recommendation must come directly from the recommender and should not be sent by the applicant.

Test-Optional
Some applicants may feel that an SAT or ACT score does not fully reflect their academic preparedness or potential. In this case, applicants may select UChicago’s test-optional method of application and not supply SAT or ACT scores with their application. We welcome any student regardless of testing plan to submit additional materials (detailed in the Supplements section) that they feel best highlights their skills, talents, and potential contributions to UChicago.
