Neubauer Family Adelante Programs

Expanding on UChicago’s landmark No Barriers program, the University will offer enhanced financial support for students engaged in Hispanic/Latino communities. Two University of Chicago initiatives made possible by the generosity of the Neubauer Family Foundation aim to reduce barriers that might prevent academically excellent students from attending the College.

Neubauer Family Adelante Summer Scholars

Thanks to the vision and the generosity of the Neubauer Family Foundation, top students engaged in Hispanic/Latino communities can now participate in select University of Chicago Summer Session courses free of charge.

The Neubauer Family Adelante Summer Scholars program brings talented rising high school seniors to the University of Chicago campus to get an early taste of an exceptional college experience. Outstanding students who share the Neubauers' commitment to the Hispanic/Latino communities are invited to apply.

Students selected will receive a full scholarship to participate in one of two Summer Session courses: Collegiate Writing: Awakening Into Consciousness and Contagion: Infectious Agents and Emerging Diseases. Even if you don't plan to study English or Biology in college, being a Neubauer Family Adelante Summer Scholar is a great way to get an early look at college-level classes and get a feel for life on campus—and to have a ton of fun in the process. You'll spend the morning gaining hands-on experience from professors who are experts in their fields and the evening exploring Chicago with your classmates. Neubauer Summer Scholars also have access to supplemental programs offered by Admissions staff to help prepare them to apply to selective colleges and universities.

Neubauer Scholarship

Every admitted student who applies for need-based financial aid receives an aid package that meets 100% of their demonstrated need. Additionally, students involved in the Hispanic/Latino community are considered for merit scholarships including the Neubauer Scholarship, which ranges from $2,000 to $30,000 per year and is renewable for four years. No separate application is required to be considered for the Neubauer Scholarship.

National Hispanic Recognition Program

The University of Chicago is proud to consider students selected by the National Hispanic Recognition Program for generous merit awards. Admitted students recognized by the program will be considered by our Faculty Committee and the Office of College Admissions for a variety of scholarships, including a Neubauer Scholarship or University Scholarship. These UChicago awards range from $2,000 to $30,000 per year and are renewable for four years.
