QuestBridge is a nonprofit program designed to assist high-achieving, academically motivated students from low-income backgrounds apply to top colleges around the nation. The program features the National College Match, in which students rank and apply to up to eight of QuestBridge’s partner colleges. Students who are matched receive a generous four-year, no-loan scholarship. The University of Chicago has been a proud QuestBridge partner college since 2007, and currently has more than 200 QuestBridge Scholars on campus. Applying to UChicago through QuestBridge
In order to apply to UChicago through QuestBridge, students must first apply for the QuestBridge National College Match and be chosen as a QuestBridge Finalist. QuestBridge Finalists who are interested in applying to UChicago through the National College Match Program should apply for admission and financial aid in the same manner as any other first-year applicant applicant. Your application fee will automatically be waived by indicating on your Coalition, Common, or Universal Application that you plan to apply for need-based aid.
Matched Finalists will be notified by QuestBridge by December 1. The National College Match with UChicago is a binding admission program.
All QuestBridge finalists who ranked UChicago and did not match with a binding college will automatically receive an Early Action decision from the University in mid-December. Unmatched finalists who did not rank UChicago are welcome to apply through the Early Decision II or Regular Decision round. Please refer to our first-year applicant instructions for more information.

Q: Will the University of Chicago use my QuestBridge application for consideration for the National College Match?
A: No, we do not use the QuestBridge application for our admission process. To be considered for admission to the University of Chicago through the National College Match, you must submit the Coalition, Universal, or the Common Application and the University of Chicago Supplement on or before November 1. Please refer to our first-year applicant instructions for more information.
Q: Can I reuse any of my QuestBridge essays in the the Coalition, Universal, or Common Application?
A: Absolutely! So long as you are answering the prompt, feel free to reuse any of your QuestBridge essays in the the Coalition, Universal, or Common Application. The University of Chicago Supplement (available through your UChicago Account, the Common Application, or the Coalition Application) also requires one extended essay of your choice from our list of several prompts, and one short essay on why you would like to attend the University of Chicago.
Q: Can international students apply to the University of Chicago through the National College Match?
A: International students who need financial aid may apply through the College Match Program and for Early Action. In our admissions process, we must be need-aware for international candidates. Learn more about financial aid for international students.
Q: Is testing required for QuestBridge students?
A: Yes, UChicago requires an ACT or SAT score. Learn more about UChicago's standardized testing requirements.
Q: I would like to take the October ACT or November SAT. Will you consider these scores?
A: For students applying to UChicago through the National College Match, we will accept ACT and SAT test scores taken during or before the month of October of the year you apply.
Q: Is the National College Match binding?
A: Yes, the National College Match at UChicago is binding.
Q: How and when will I be notified if I match with UChicago?
A: QuestBridge will notify finalists of their College Match status on December 1. We will contact matched students shortly thereafter with additional information.
Q: If I am not matched with UChicago, can I still apply Early Action?
A: All QuestBridge finalists who ranked UChicago and did not match with a binding college will automatically receive an Early Action admission decision in mid-December.
Q: If I am admitted to the University of Chicago, but not through the National College Match program, what kind of Financial Aid will I be offered?
A: The University of Chicago meets 100% of demonstrated need for all admitted students. You may find that your financial aid package is similar to that offered through the College Match, but each case is considered individually. Learn more about financial aid at UChicago.
