Students who have a desire to conduct their own research domestically or internationally can do so through our grant and fellowship programs. For domestic work, our Summer Action Grants fund opportunities that will enhance a student’s academic and professional goals. Students must submit proposals, which include a budget and back-up plan. For those who choose to take their work abroad, the University of Chicago offers Summer International Travel Grants; students who wish to conduct intensive language study can take advantage of our Foreign Language Acquisition Grants.

The breadth of study and depth of analysis I practiced are what underlies my assertion that this summer Metcalf internship was an extension of the University of Chicago classroom.”
